Customer Service Jobs
Hourly Income Opportunity: Customer Service Jobs
Customer service call centers are the most popular telecommuting job available today. There are numerous companies that hire people to take calls and to service the consumer however it is needed. Some call center jobs take orders for a particular product, while others help consumers with questions or complaints they may have.
Where to find customer service jobs:
Online job boards are an easy way to find these kinds of jobs. Since these companies are almost always hiring for people, they usually place their help wanted ads on these job sites to get a higher response from perspective employees.
Another common way to find these jobs is to network with others on the work at home job message boards. Those that are currently working for these companies will often post on the message boards that their company is hiring for more workers. Also, you can get the company’s website address so you can check and see if they’re currently hiring.
Skills you need:
Because you’re working in the customer service field; you will need to have good people skills. You should also be an excellent listener and be able to handle some of the more intimidating customers. An outgoing personality is a perfect fit for this type of job.
Tools you need:
A computer with a reliable, high speed internet connection is very important as you will more than likely need it to enter some type of data into the company’s main software system. You will also need a separate business phone line that’s dedicated to the job. The company’s phone system will route the phone calls to your business line while you are scheduled to work. Each company will have requirements of what the phone should and shouldn’t have.
The companies all have different computer requirements that they want you to have, so you’ll have to check each one out.
Another important factor that you must have is a quiet environment that is free from distractions. Consumers are not supposed to know that you’re working from home. Having children screaming and laughing in the background is going to be a dead giveaway and could cost you your job.
How much money can you make?
Pay rates for customer service jobs vary greatly. Some companies will pay about $7-12 an hour, while others pay a per minute talk rate. Those that pay per minute will only pay a certain amount of active talk time. If you talk to a consumer for 3 minutes, then you will be a paid a certain amount for the 3 minute time period.
